Departmental Description
WCFR is made up of the follow areas to provide the citizens and visitors of Worth County with the best and highly professional services.
Administration
The fire chief serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the fire Department providing overall management of all departmental activities including short and long term strategic planning, budget preparation, fire operations and emergency management.
Operations Division
Worth County Fire Rescue is an all hazards urban/rural combination department that is comprised of 26 full time firefighters, 15 part time firefighters and almost 25 volunteer firefighters. Currently there are fifteen fire stations which include four full time stations and 11 stations staffed with part time/volunteers. These stations protect approximately 23,000 citizens, covering almost 572 square miles in unincorporated Worth County with a budget of 1.5 million dollars for the current fiscal year.
Risk Reduction Bureau
This Risk reduction Bureau is also responsible for reviewing new building plans, issuing Certificates of Occupancy, yearly inspections of business, churches, and schools, and inspections for all county issued business licenses along with providing public education activities developed to provide educational events that are designed to reduce the risks of fire and accidents within our community with special emphasis on fire safety during fire prevention week in October of each year. This RRB is also responsible for coordinating all arson related investigations and coordination with local and state law enforcement.
Training Bureau
The Training Bureau provides credentialing and professional regulation for all employees and volunteers. The bureau develops and delivers curriculum for all recertification, initial recruit training and volunteer training required by ISO and the State of Georgia. The Bureau also serves as the HR department responsible for application review and interview of potential fire rescue employees.
Public Information Bureau
The Public Information bureau is responsible for all internal and external communications of the Worth County Fire Rescue Department and the Division of Emergency Management Agency. The PIB is responsible for maintaining the social media sites associated with Worth County Fire Rescue. The PIB is also responsible for marketing of the Fire Department.
Emergency Management Agency
The Emergency Management Agency is a division of the Worth County Fire Rescue Department responsible for protecting Worth County Citizens from the effects of disasters, natural and man-made. The agency coordinates and assists all municipal officials’ efforts as well as the unincorporated areas of the county during disasters and crisis situations.
Agency personnel coordinate with municipal and county officials to develop emergency action plans for such hazards as chemical spills, fires, floods, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, nuclear, bio-terrorism, and transportation incidents. These plans are routinely tested by county and municipal leaders with full scale drills and tabletop exercises.
