Driveway Pipe Installations

The County is committed to preventing road hazards from improperly installed driveway culverts. The Board of Commissioners found that inconsistent installation of property access
culverts can create potentially dangerous situations for citizens and others traveling County roads. To protect the public, maintain safe and efficient roadways, and preserve the integrity of County roads and drainage systems, all property owners must follow County regulations when installing driveway culverts, which are summarized as follows :

  • No Permit Required: A formal permit is not needed, but you must contact the Public Works office before installing any culvert in a road right-of-way.

  • County Installation: The County installs all culverts on the right-of-way of a road which is a part of the County's road system to ensure proper size, location, and materials for safe drainage.

  • Minimum Standards: Culverts must be at least 20 feet long and 15 inches in diameter; our standard culvert size is 30 feet long and 18 inches in diameter.

  • Replacement & Maintenance: The County may replace worn, damaged, or unsafe culverts at the Public Works Director’s discretion.

  • Costs: Materials are paid for by the property owner. First culvert pipe is sold at county cost (includes two loads of dirt), and additional culverts are sold at cost + $250. Pricing may vary.

  • Penalties: Violations may result in citations, fines, or civil action. Each violation is treated separately.

If you need a new culvert, want to add onto an existing one, or need a replacement, please contact the office. We will create a work order and have a supervisor come out and verify the culvert size and location. Once verified, we will provide you with a quote and installation is scheduled after payment is received. We accept cash, check, or debit card (with a small fee), in person or by mail.
