Marriage License

Monday - Friday, 8:30a.m. - 4:00p.m.

Any Georgia resident may apply for a license in any county in Georgia. However, if neither applicant is a resident of Georgia, you may only obtain your license in the county where the ceremony is performed. The license does not have an expiration date.

Both parties must be present in order to obtain a marriage license. Pre-marital blood test results are no longer required in the State of Georgia.

Identification: You must have proof of age by presenting one of the following:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport
  • Valid military ID

The marriage license fee is $76.00 (cash/check/credit/debit) or $36.00 (cash/check/credit/debit) only if you provide to the court a Certificate of Completion for a Qualified Premarital Education Program with at least six hours of instruction involving marital issues. The premarital education must be completed within 12 months prior to the application for a marriage license and the couple must undergo the education together. Please call (229) 776-8207 for more information concerning the Certificate of Completion.

All fees are non-refundable. If you have any further questions, please call (229) 776-8207.

If either party has been divorced, please be prepared to present a copy of the final divorce decree.

After the license has been recorded and placed in the permanent files, you may obtain a certified copy.
