Q:  Can I obtain a copy of my birth certificate in Georgia if I was born in a different state?

      A:  No.  If you were born in a different state, you will need to obtain a copy in that state.

Q:  Can I obtain a copy of my birth certificate in Worth County if I was born in a different Georgia county?

      A:  Yes.  All counties in Georgia are on the same state wide vital records system.  If you were born in Georgia, you can obtain your birth certificate in any county in the state of Georgia.

Q:  How long does it take to get my birth certificate?

      A:  Once we have your request, it only takes about 6 to 8 minutes to have it printed and ready for you.  (Pending that we are not busy.)  If you need to have  it mailed, standard first class mail times will apply.

Q:  Can I get married at the Worth County Court House?

      A:  Yes. The Worth County Courthouse does perform marriage ceremonies in the Magistrate Court.  A separate appointment will need to be made with that office as the Probate Court only issues the marriage license.  For more information on a courthouse marriage ceremony, please contact the Worth County Magistrate Court at 229-776-8210.

Q:  If I got married and never brought my marriage license back to be recorded are we still legally married?

      A:  Yes.  If you got married and the officiant signed off on your marriage license, you are legally married.  Although, your marriage will not be recorded and registered with the state of Georgia until the signed off marriage license are brought back to our office.

Q:  Do I have to probate a will?

      A:  Depending on what is considered part of a decedents estate would determine whether or not the will should be probated.  If you are unsure, it is always best practice to consult with an attorney to help you decide what is best and to answer any legal questions you may have.

Q:  Do I have to obtain an attorney for probate proceedings?

      A:  No.  Although, it is recommended that you consult with an attorney for legal advice and guidance on handling a decedents estate properly.

Q:  After applying for a weapons carry license, how long does it take for approval and to receive my license?

      A:  The application will be approved or denied within the first week of applying.  Once approved, it is sent to the printer and mailed to our office.  The total time is an estimate of 2 to 6 weeks.

Q:  If my weapons carry license application gets denied, will I get my money back?

      A:  No.  Once you apply all fees are non-refundable.  If you are unsure if you will be approved, it is best to check on the status of past charges prior to applying.
